Get - Jewish Divorce Document
Written In Hebrew By A Scribe
On Behalf Of The Jewish Husband

Get - Jewish Divorce Document

A Get is a Jewish divorce document written in Hebrew by a scribe. The Get is issued by the husband to his wife. In it, it states that when she receives the document, the Get, she may do with her life what ever she pleases. The text of the Get is proscribed by Jewish law, and care must be taken that it be written correctly. There is no mention of money, children or property. It states that upon receipt of the document, the marital bonds have been absolved, and she may marry anyone she wishes.

It is a straight forward procedure that takes approximately forty five minutes. At the time of the Get procedure there are no personal questions asked of the man or woman, and there is no embarrassment what so ever. The reason for their divorce is not discussed at the Get procedure.

There are many ways of executing this procedure if one of the parties cannot be present at the Get procedure.
